RingLeadr takes another approach to the standard daily deals concept. The user provides a city or zip code location to begin. Then the user selects a specific business that they would like to receive a deal from. The user then adds additional information, such as how much the deal is worth, how much of a discount they hope to get and a short description of the deal. The user can also supply an image to go with their personally created deal. The deal is submitted to RingLeadr who in turn shows it to the business. If the business approves the deal, it is posted to the site and the user receives a link to access and buy it, just like a regular daily deal website. The user can pass the deal on through Facebook, Twitter or email to encourage more people to buy so it becomes active. The RingLeadr homepage features a scrolling feed of recent activity. RingLeadr was founded in September of 2010 by Michael Davis. The application was intended to provide a customizable twist on the standard daily deal website. Rather than looking for existing deals, users could actually suggest their own deals. The company is currently based in New York City, New York and consists of fewer than five individuals.
The Daily Deal concept seems a bit overdone, however RingLeadr has managed to approach it in an entirely new way. Rather than wait and see what businesses come up with, users can actually suggest deals that they would be interested in purchasing. These deals must be approved by the business of course, but provide the user with a way to communicate their needs directly to the business.
The RingLeadr website invites users with a blue and grey color scheme and clutter free layout. The homepage features the stylish RingLeadr logo under the silhouette of a crowd of people, with a single person highlighted in dark blue (presumably the ring leader). Below, the user can find the location entry box. Below that, two blue buttons are available for users who wish to create a deal or access existing deals. The user activity feed is found at the very bottom of the homepage.
To get started, a new user can enter a city or zip code then click the blue and white “Create a Deal” button found along the left hand side, near the bottom of the RingLeadr homepage. A pop up box will appear and ask the user to sign in. Those who do not have an account can click either the blue Facebook button at the bottom of the box or the blue “Create One Now!” link just above it. The link causes the box to shift into the registration form. The form asks for a first and last name, email address, username and password.
RingLeadr gives all users access for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for suggesting daily deals or browsing existing deals. Of course the user will have to pay for any deals they decide to purchase, but the site does not set any minimum requirements to maintain an account.
RingLeadr.com is aimed at anyone who loves daily deal websites but dislikes receiving all the spam messages they can generate. Users can instead suggest a customized deal that suits their needs.
